Stichting PLATFORM FOR TRANSNATIONAL FORENSIC ASSISTANCE 

The platform supports national and local authorities, humanitarian organisations, forensic experts and academics in their efforts to identify missing persons and unidentified bodies in order to help the families of those missing as a result of migration, disasters and other humanitarian crises.

The platform provides forensic assistance to alleviate suffering of the families, restore dignity and aims to develop sustainable solutions for the resolving the fate of missing persons and unidentified bodies.

A PLATFORM uses its available resources to find, connect and support those who share its mission to develop innovative solutions through strategic partnerships and collaborations, networking and interaction between transversal disciplines.

The investigation of missing persons, and in particular missing migrants, often has a TRANSNATIONAL element and requires investigative solutions extending or operating beyond national boundaries

The platform provides FORENSIC EXPERTISE through operational/technical advice, research, fieldwork and training to support sustainable capacity building solutions and evidence-based policy development.

The platforms aims to develop and promote INNOVATIVE FORENSIC SOLUTIONS for the recovery, identification, documentation and traceability of missing persons and unidentified bodies

VISION & MISSION

VISION

A transnational and regionally coordinated approach to the dignified management of missing persons and unidentified bodies to restore their identities whenever possible, return their remains to their loved ones and reduce the suffering of communities affected by the loss of a member or members. The Foundation is recognized as a national and regional reference on the dignified management of unidentified remains, and in particular in the thematic of migration, through its professional engagement in relevant programs aimed at empowering stakeholders to meet the needs of relatives of the missing. The Foundation forms an integral part of civil society networks, academic partnerships, novel forensic research and participation in global platforms on the missing.

Advancement of forensic research and promotion of dignified management of unidentified remains to improve practices, protocols and procedures for the recovery, identification and traceability of migrant remains in an effort to assist families of the missing, in particular those lost along the migratory routes towards Europe.
